Bird Photography

Rock Bunting – Bukk Hills, Hungary

Part of my passion for birding originated in bird photography. While I dont get paid for it, it has evolved from the mere hobby category to become a passion and obsession. I truly love documenting the endless shapes, colors and patterns birds come in. I also love being able to share my images and hopefully help others find an appreciation for birds they never knew they had.

Besides enjoying the photography aspect, having a camera has helped hone my birding skill set immensely. It has allowed me to focus on details that would otherwise be lost to my memory or invisible to the naked eye. I count it as one of the most important tools in my bird watching kit, and I truly believe it has helped me become a better birder.

I currently use a Canon 7d with a Tamron 150-600 lens. Prior to 2015 I used a 15 year old Tamron 200-400 Lens solely with manual focus. I value portability with my camera gear more than anything. I dont use any camera gear that I cannot carry easily or that cannot fit in my backpack.
